Mission Statement

We have a unique opportunity to influence the lives of countless generations of people. Think about your life. A handful of people have influenced you throughout your life. Helping you become the individual you are today. These people affect your daily life in how you handle everyday situations, your work ethic, to how you raise your own children. Usually, these people are comprised of your family, friends and, more than likely, a coach.

Now we have the opportunity to be that person for another young man or woman. Understand this responsibility and embrace it; the greatest gift any of us can give to this world is to do our part to make it better. Your actions as a coach may change the path of a player and their life forever.

Coaching Philosophy

• At all levels, focus on the fundamentals of the sport. We will not to let a higher skilled player break from the fundamentals simply because their skill allows them too.

• Make sure players understand that we are coaching them to be able to face higher level competition. The best player in Charlotte will typically not make teams in other areas, so if they want to truly become a high level player they need to follow proper fundamentals.

• Always try to make a player better. Never be satisfied. No matter what level, the player can always be better. Tell the players the day we stop encouraging them to get better is the day we should stop coaching.

• For the players to understand that the mission of the league is to maximize the skills of all participants.

• Be supportive and provide encouragement.

• Do the opposite of what a player or team thinks we are going to do. Pat them on the back when they make a mistake and push them harder when they do things correctly.

• The Zenith Elite Head coach will meet with all the coaches to discuss the specific practice and game plans and each coach will be prepared to provide a practice plan.

• We will not be a “roll the ball out” organization and will make sure every practice and game is a learning experience for our participants

• X’s and O’s will be discussed on field.

Development and Recruiting

• The ultimate goal of Zenith Lacrosse is to provide lacrosse players opportunities to play at the collegiate level.
• We will always be aware of this goal and do our part to motivate the players to excel.
• To keep the players and parents focused on the end goal.
• We will provide any assistance in the recruiting process for players. You may need to provide advice, letters of recommendation and speaking with college level coaches to aid in the recruiting process.
